SwingView Pro TM FAQ's

Q. What kind of cameras does SwingView Pro use?

A. SwingView Pro can use any DV Camcorder (60 fps) or USB Camera( 30 fps). For the USB camera we currently are recommending the Logitech QuickCam Pro, which retails for around $100. This camera is capable of capturing video at 30 fps at 640x480. The picture quality of the DV capture is much better than the USB web camera. We recommend the Canon ZR series of DV camcorders with a 0.5 wide angle accessory len. We also support the new Casio EX-F1 high speed camera. It is capable of 300, 600 and 1200 fps video.

Q. I own a DVcamcorder. Can I use it with the SwingView Pro?

A. Yes. SwingView Pro supports DV Camcorders recording at 60 fps. A firewire port on your computer is required to use the DV Camcorder.

Q. What are the requirements for a notebook computer to run SwingView Pro?

A. Any of the newer notebooks are adequate to run the program. A CPU speed 1 GHz for single camera system or 2GHz for a dual camera system is acceptable. The notebook computer needs to have at least one firewire (IEEE 1394) port. RAM requirements are 512 MB for single camera and 1GB RAM for dual camera system. The most important feature to look for in a notebook is the LCD screen brightness. This is important when using the system outside. Most new notebooks today come with the option for and extra bright LCD. If you do not have A/C power where you will be teaching, a notebook that accommodates 2 batteries may be important. Also if you want to make student CD's, you will need a CD-RW drive.

A. SwingView Pro has been tested and works with Windows XP and Vista.

A. SwingView Pro supports dual camera capturing at the same time. The cameras may be two USB cameras or two DV camcorders.
